Workshop
As well as making banners and flags together as a group, we need our members to make their own smaller flags to bring to games and add a bit of colour to the stands.
We’ve put together some instructions for how to go about doing this. Here's the info you need…
1) Easy step by step tutorial

2) Material: the best is polycotton which is light and can be painted on. Try IKEA or material shops or the link below:
3) Paint: the best is masonry paint which can be picked up cheaply at any DIY store. Fabric paint is too expensive to use and masonry paint is still waterproof and does the job.
4) Designs: for complicated designs, it might be easier to use an OHP. If you can’t get hold of one, send us your design and we will paint it when the production part of the group meets up. In the meantime, for simple designs, anyone with a bit of artistic talent should be able to draw on the design and paint it themselves. See these links for ideas:

5) Sticks: ground regulations are often very strict and what we are allowed into the ground will vary from club to club. In most cases, it will be small thin garden canes only so it is better to use these. If your flag is painted on one side only, it is best to attach a stick to each side as in the tutorial, making a two-stick which can be held up. If you paint a design on both sides, it is better to attach one stick only, allowing for the flag to be waved.
These smaller flags are cheap and fun to make. They shouldn’t take up too much time and are easy to carry about to games. We want a maximum of material built up for the start of the new season – this is a good way for members who can’t make it to every meeting, or who don’t have the time to help the group make larger scale banners, to contribute to the group.
