Who are we?

Through the use of banners, flags, card, balloons and any other means possible, we aim to make Love Street more colourful and animated in the style of ultras groups all over the world. Simply put, our aims are more colour, more noise and more atmosphere at St Mirren games!

One point must be stressed: despite woefully inaccurate media misrepresentations of ultras on the continent, despite the all too common amalgamation of hooligans and ultras, Supras Paisley are categorically not hooligans. We will have nothing to do with violence of any form, nor will we have anything to do with anything political or sinister in whatever way. We have no links or connections with any violent or political groups and do not condone or promote in any way the use of violence at football matches.

We exist solely to add colour and life to the St Mirren support and to help inspire our team on to even greater things, and wish to appeal to St Mirren fans of all ages, gender and background. All that we ask for from prospective members of our group is a burning passion for St Mirren Football Club!

Our name

‘Supras’ stands for ‘SUPporters ultRAS’. The name originates from a very successful group at PSG, Supras Auteil. The Supras name has since been taken on by groups all over the world.

We wanted a name which reflected who we are. To use the Italian name, we are ‘tifosi’ – a group of supporters creating tifos, singing and supporting our team to a maximum degree possible. Supras is now a recognised group name throughout the ultras world, yet is far more original than merely calling ourselves ultras. Indeed, there is no Supras group on the British Isles so this further retains an element of originality for us. A banner with Supras on it on these shores will be instantly recognisable as one of ours.

We also wanted to reflect the fact that we represent not only our team, but our town. We are the only team in Paisley, and Supras Paisley obviously belongs to a group of St Mirren fans.

Finally, a reminder that it is not our name but our actions which are most important. It is up to us to honour our name and honour our group.

The committee

Running an ultras group takes a lot of time and effort. We are highly organised and must be to succeed. In order to help the group progress, a committee exists with responsibility for all areas of the group’s life. At present it consists of the two founder members and two new members who have shown themselves willing to play an active role in the group.

As the group grows, so this committee will need to grow, and members who play an active role will be appointed to the committee with responsibility for a particular area as and when.
